A wooden barn stands in a grassy field at sunrise, with long tree shadows—like lines drawn behind the barn—stretching across the golden grass and leafless trees silhouetted against a clear blue sky, creating a true Behind The Lines moment.

Poetry and Ponderings by Shelly

Behind The Lines

I apparently have an intense habit of squinting. I rarely wear sunglasses so this little habit has caused some wrinkles, lines, deep crevices..lol But you know I started thinking about that. It’s not always sun related. I am sort of…

A dirt path runs through tall golden grass under a partly cloudy sky, with wooden fence posts along the sides—like an invitation to open the door to adventure—while warm sunlight casts long shadows across the tranquil landscape.

Rally the Troops

Rally The Troops There’s felt a heavy weight Who’s source is Heaven’s gate The burden from a heart To tend to those with scars. In pondering Thy trusted voice is a desire to reach but more Oh that thy life…

A silhouette of a person stands on a hill against a vibrant sunset sky, pondering a Great Mistake as shades of orange, yellow, and blue fade into the horizon with distant mountains visible below.

Jump Faith requires you to jump Off the ground to arms of trust If on the ground you do remain Then on the ground you’ll always stay. Come as children, hunger and thirst Tossed in air till laughter bursts Bring…

Two seagulls flying in a clear blue sky, with one bird close to the camera and wings spread wide, while the other—like the Unknown Saints—soars quietly in the distant background.

Unknown Saints

Harken O’ saints Of unknown reknown Christ is preparing His trumpet to sound. Voices they come to cry in the night Billows they roll with thundering cries. Tune now thine ears to those never heard Men showing forth as John…

A vast wheat field under a cloudy sky with a wide swath of flattened wheat in the foreground and a line of trees on the horizon, as if nature chose this moment to Open The Door to hidden wonders.

Poetry and Ponderings by Shelly

Open The Door

Open the door dare not leave it shut For power awaits, do answer Thy touch. Strength it has left many a limbs Workings of flesh and strivings of men. Open the door to that I desire The Giver of gifts…

A shepherd with a dog stands in a grassy field, tending thy sheep while sunlight illuminates rolling hills and dense green forest in the background.

Tend Thy Sheep

I was washing dishes when I heard the first line of this poem begin. Honestly, I wasn’t contemplating anything or pondering with the Lord at this time. I find He is able to interrupt our daily lives in the mundane…

Waves crash on a teal-green ocean under a dramatic sky, as if asking, "Have We Drank" in the golden-orange light of sunset. Sunbeams stream through clouds, illuminating the water with hope and mystery.

Poetry and Ponderings by Shelly

Have We Drank?

Have We Drank? Have we Drank from His cup truly Have we tasted His blood unto death Have we given Him all our possessions And counted them as loss instead. Have we wept over the broken Do we have His…

Be careful who’s shoes you do use For where they’ve walked you’ll walk too Mire and muck will cause thee stuck Sin that seeps and darkness tucked. Shoes may need to stay behind Press on new, no clinging vines Cut…

Shelly Wilson is a poet, psalmist, and messenger passionate about releasing a word in season to weary hearts.  Shelly is a champion for those who have lost their voice and she mentors many to become rooted in Christ in a way that raises them as modern day warriors. She is honored to birth out others with Christ-size dreams and is particularly fond of spotting the gifts in women and girls.  Her favorite thing to teach is how to hear God’s voice and cultivate awareness of His presence in every day life.  She loves to speak on how the scriptures are living and breathing by giving examples through creation testifying, Holy Spirit communion, or His language through prophetic eyes. She will often nudge others to take hold of child-like faith and wonder again.
