A man’s gift opens doors for him, and brings him before great men.
Proverbs 18:16
You can often tell a God calling by a sheer, and unexpected, surprise. At some point, the gift begins to stir, and it shows itself. You may not be the first to even recognize it, but others will.
God puts forth the gifts and callings on a life. Yet, I see many a man (or woman) latching onto a title or calling, that has no anointing behind it because its self-imposed rather than divinely given.
Talent alone will never be enough to break the yoke of bondage off a life. Oh yes, it will entertain an audience, but it will not evict a devil, heal the sick, or transform a life from sin slavery to a life of freedom in Christ. We’ve merchandised much of the gospel today. Hence, the sad depth of power loss in the Kingdom.
I didn’t call myself a songwriter. The gift began to show itself. I didn’t label myself a Pastor. God began to unfold the shepherding gift, and others saw it before I did. I didn’t call myself a prophetic poet on my own accord. The Holy Spirit brought it forward in a dark season and suddenly, there was the gift.
Listen, you do NOT want to try to carry a title God never gave you. That thing will be so heavy for you, it’ll likely cause a death of some sort. At the very least, you’ll be discouraged because you’ve perhaps taken on a false Identity.
That path, friend, will be a rough road.
Many “sell” themselves as “this or that” with absolutely no evidence of that gift rising. That’s a dangerous place to be. It’s also a form of deception to yourself and to others.
It’s super important to know who you are and to be comfortable in your own skin.
I didn’t know I was a deliverance minister. Demons just kept showing up in my rooms, and it was evident God had placed such a call on my life. It was not something I knew much about, but I sure did have to learn quickly.
Your gift will make room for you in unexpected ways. I’m not talking ways that are humanly driven. Our flesh can beat down many doors and not one might actually be God.
I recently stepped into a worship arena with some beautiful friends. We knew God was putting something together, but I was not prepared for what God would do. A prophetic worshiper came out of me and took even me by surprise. I remember going home and saying, “Who are you?” It suddenly made sense why some arenas I never fit into. I am made for places who operate freely in the spiritual gifts. Otherwise, people won’t know what to do with me. I would, and have, died in those places.
God has a way of bringing out your gifts and even expanding you in any given season, but it will have to be Him in the lead, not you.
Trust the process and plan of God in your life. Don’t work to make things happen, and most of all, don’t follow a crowd. Your life is unique. The last thing the Kingdom of God needs is a herd of copycats and counterfeits.
Stay positioned in the secret place. It is there that all God desires of you will begin to stir, and I promise you that God knows who you are even more than you do, so let Him pull out every gift He, Himself, placed there.
Christ will make sure your gift makes room for you, and it will be undeniably fruitful…
