Your Birthright

Your Birthright

Your Birthright

A pain is deep inside Christ’s heart

For He has seen within.

And just as Esau’s flesh did wince

You’ve sold your birthright to men.

You’ve exchanged it for the lesser things

For power this earth does hold

But nothing shall fill up thine heart

One day you’ll see the holes.

For just a moment of fleshly need

You’ve taken the devil’s hand

For you could not resist his ploy

To lead you from your land.

What sorrow comes as you do see

The “stew” was just lean meat

And for a moment of pleasures fed

Your birthright was sold for cheap.

Prepared for you were plenty of vines

Filled with fruit for miles

And joy was waiting up ahead

Filled with the light of Christ.

For in His bread is fullness met

Every need of heart

But Satan convinced you “have a sip”

You answered his deceptive call.

In dire haste with no forethought

The enemy had you pinned

And in one moment of weariness

Sold!….your birthright to men.

Your emptiness, now, is no mistake

And anger now ensues

Perhaps if you might bend a knee

He’ll return your birthright to you.

His mercy waits for you to turn

His hand is stretched out near

And if you’ll turn from worldly things

He’ll restore your birthright again.
