Something has been on my mind a lot lately. A simple question.
Do you give God your best?
I’m not talking your “Sunday best” in regards to clothes. I’m talking heart matters and intentional priority setting with Christ.
We love to get God’s best but I find that we often take for granted giving God our best.
Communing with God is often a second thought. We squeeze Him in during our day and I fear that if we’re honest, even that doesn’t often happen.
We enjoy God’s best given to us but quickly place Him on the back burner. Then when things start getting dire we run back. Seems like we hear of this often regarding Israel in the Bible.
While God loves us running back, this is not the life that seeks first the Kingdom of God.
When God desires us to grow, it requires intentionality. We make plans to learn more, hear better, and grow to the next level with Jesus. We surround ourselves with those who can help us in our walk and make priority people, places, and things that feed us well biblical truths. Otherwise, we are left wanting and our growth will be as much as we have put forth in effort. If you put forth little, you’ll get little.
Does God get your best?
If not, who, or what, does? Your family? Your job? Your vacation? Your dream pursuit? Your hobbies? Your friends?
What if I told you that all of those things are wonderful but when out of order…things will lack somewhere at some time.
Do you put your best foot forward in that which Christ has entrusted to you or is it more of a checkbox on your to-do list? No prayer. No planning. No spiritual preparation of any kind? You rush to it then rush from it.
It’s sad that we put more effort into where to go for dinner or what vacation we plan on taking and leave Gods work unattended. Ill-planned. Nothing more than a second hand shopping experience.
What is it that is required of you when you go to a job? Make a list. Do you honor God the same way when you do His work?
Simple question that in this hour needs an honest answer.
Do you give God your best?
Because He always gives you His.
