Often when a storm comes, we want to know, “Why.”
Have I grieved God in some way that I need to repent of? Has a curse been placed on me through another’s bitter words? What have I done to deserve all of “this?”
Job 2:3
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.”
I wonder how often it has nothing to do with us at all and that, in all honesty, there is “no cause.”
The supernatural realm is beyond our understanding. We must have the Holy Spirit to keep us in any trial, level-headed.
Job had friends who assumed his pain was caused by his own disobedience. Surely he deserved it and has hidden sin.
Many of us have the same kind of friends at times. Natural-minded rather than supernatural-minded.
It seems an honor to “show off” God’s certainty of Job’s faithfulness.
I suppose it’s the surest way to do a reality check, huh?
We don’t even know what’s in us until a trial of massive proportions comes into our peaceful and pleasant bubbles.
Pressure creates a squeeze effect and all that is hidden comes to the surface.
Yet God knows ahead of time how we will respond.
Job’s honesty showed a true and very intimate relationship with God. Many of us think this masquerade of ours will make us appear more spiritual yet to God it’s just a deceptive cover up that He intends on revealing to our own hearts and perhaps others, so we may get a full healing from Him.
His heart is for healing and the real truth. No darkness is found in Him.
Wave upon wave, God allowed a striking in Job’s life. Even the one closest to him, his wife, encouraged him to turn from God. Yet Job knew not to cower even to her. God was His and He was God’s. His loyalty was secure even while in significant pain and confusion.
Do you and I have this kind of resolve to Jesus, or are we more loyal to other’s demands and voices?
If you’re in a trial of the worst kind, friends, it’s okay to be honest before the Lord and there is no need to beat yourself up needlessly.
Ask the Lord if there be anything in you (and me) that needs to be changed and if He doesn’t convict us of something, know that God’s way are indeed higher. There is likely more going on than meets the natural eye.
Walk it out with Him…He will be nearer than ever before. You can trust Him.
And who knows if, like Job, you’ve been found faithful in the eyes of God and that some extravagant display of your uprightness is happening in the heavens while you’d all the while been found, by God, “without cause.”
