The church needs rain.
But you can only take people as far as you have been. Perhaps this is why so many people are dry and thirsty. No real life is blooming.
Many are frustrated because they see no transformation, yet, our preaching is void of supernatural power… there is no rain falling…
The problem is not with them. The problem is with us…
We teach and preach a gospel void of the rain necessary to heal the sick, drive out demons, and set captives free. All are Impossibilities without His rain. “Tarry ye…”
Our well-constructed sermons, classes, and denominational slants leave hearts empty and yearning for more. Christ always met directly the heart need.
Pride stands in our way of asking Christ for what we need. We must humble ourselves before the people, and the Lord.
Tell them your lack. Confess it. Then you shall see the rain.
You might pray in secret for the rain but there is no leading your congregation to the rain. So embedded deeply is a fear of the rain and an unholy pride that leads to the omission of foundational truths in the New Testament church.
Shall we be ashamed of the Holy Spirit’s ways?
Friends…we…need…the…rain…
Sometimes you have to admit a lack before Christ will give you what you need….isn’t salvation much the same? An acknowledgement of our need of the Savior? Empty yourself so that you may be filled.
Empty yourself of reputation. Empty the pride of self-righteous platitudes. Empty yourself of the need to be seen. Empty all prejudice. Empty all that is contrary to the image of God. Empty the need of a “following.” Empty the need of a stage. Empty the need of human power. Empty it all. Empty yourself of man’s approval. Often, Christ will empty you of alignments contrary to His ways and desires….this includes friendships, churches, and at times entire denominations.
Anything that holds your heart from Christ will be reckoned with.
You need the rain…we need the rain…the church needs the rain…
Hosea 6:3
Then shall we know if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. (KJV)
