But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. 1 Samuel 15:22
I have found often a push and pull between the Lord Jesus and my own heart. If we are honest, sometimes we are unsure of His desires for us. The direction seems hidden and our “wait” is lacking in patience.
Good and beautiful things come and we want to jump in with both feet but soon we find ourselves overly weary.
In these moments, the kindness of the Lord whispers assignments and the necessary steps to fulfill those.
I find again and again my heart can lead me astray. It causes a crooked path instead of a straight one and eventually my body, mind, and spirit will fall into a weakness I am unable to overcome.
That is until the Lord intervenes and puts His finger on my error. No condemnation. Just a gentle repositioning.
He is gracious to bring us back to a focus that is set by Him alone.
The Master, Adonai, must be heard. Obeyed. Followed.
There is no discussion for the Saint given over to Him. Only obedience.
“If you love me, you will obey me.” (John 14:15)
May you lay before Him every question needing an answer, every duty set before you, and every heart attitude that might ensnare you.
For He is a willing listener who shall make the crooked path straight once again.
