Some of us have not understood the transition we’ve been in. For some it’s had some significant pain while for others just odd happenings that seem to be random-but we’re finding out are not.
As I was walking today the Lord brought to mind how He desires to promote people in His Kingdom.
It is not some sort of self-exaltation. It is not about a degree or title. It, instead, is a holy shift out of one season into another with Christ.
Some are being promoted from Elementary School to Middle School, while others are going from Middle School to “High” School.
We all are hopefully going to make it to His Higher School of education, but some will stay comfortable in a spiritual Elementary School.
We see this problem as Paul talks to us about some needing to be teachers already, but we’ve stayed on the milk rather than the meat. We’ve majored in basics instead of growing into the deep things of God. Now it seems we even need retraining in our foundations.
As we go from glory to glory and strength to strength, God is kind to promote us in stages. We are often unable to handle too much at once. We see this with Christ and His disciples.
“There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now.”
John 16:12
God knows when we are ready for our promotion to a higher learning. However, many today are too satisfied. We don’t intentionally go where we need to go in order to grow and learn. The pursuit of Christ is a place of always learning. We are always, first, a student while the Holy Spirit is our teacher.
I had to step outside my raising in the church to be able to grow into all God wanted to show me. I had to move from a place of my elementary learning to a place in between (middle) and later to His higher school of learning. This school seems to never end…you can always go higher and deeper with Christ JESUS.
There is never graduation from His school, you see. I fear many seem to think they know all they need to know about Jesus. I am still, very much, a student, today.
One of the keys, I am learning, is hunger.
With much love, yet honesty, I want to share that God will give you all you want. Some of you, honestly, want very little…so it’s what you’ve gotten.
It’s not His will for you to stay in Elementary School forever. If you realize that this message might be for you, today, go spend some time with Jesus and His Word. Tell Him you want to “grow up” in the faith.
He will never leave that request unanswered but you will have to take intentional steps to get to His HIGHer SCHOOL of learning.
He will always do His part, but you’ll have to, also, do yours.
Revelation 4:1
After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a [war] trumpet speaking with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.”
