The Oil

There’s a miraculous love of Jesus

I can see when the tears do fall

It’s as if He’s hugging hurting hearts

To tend the pain in them all.

Sometimes it’s overwhelming

When I glance around the room

For I can see His promise

That was sent for my heart too.

The season where night was looming

When I fought just to stand back up

Where I could hear His whisper

As He sent to me His love.

How He promised to make it all better

And then use it all for my good

He said He’d redeem the time

I remembered while I stood.

When I saw the tender lullaby

Once spoken to my own heart

Trigger tears from wounded souls

I almost fell apart.

I suddenly choked back weeping

As He allowed the memory to swell

Reminding me of His faithfulness

And the promises from that deep well.

Then every face He cupped sweet

Like a rose about to bloom

And then I could see the purpose

From the oil that poured in the room.
