Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
It is like us humans to fret when the road is hidden. Thus, we begin to make our own way while feeding our own will.
Yet often God’s new thing is just that…NEW.
New to us is seen with a tainted view. We put in a little of “that” which we did in the past and a little of “this” which we’re familiar with. Soon we’ve designed our own new thing that looks a lot like the old thing with a few tweaks.
But God paves roads where there has never been one and commands rivers to run in the most barren of places.
God specializes in the impossible and although that desert of yours has been void of refreshing drink you will at some divinely appointed moment see a spring. Its waters will satisfy you indeed, but likely it will feed many others also.
God is still a divine creator, and He is still able to speak something into existence when nothing at all has been there.
The Way-maker, Himself, knows how to move mountains, shift landscapes, and obliterate boulders.
Soon you’ll see His divine fingerprint as He forges a new path. It will likely be more than you ever thought or imagined, but you needed to give up your way of doing things, your vision, and your thoughts which were lower than His.
Do not expect the new path to be void of thorns and trials. Going higher with Jesus brings a new kind of warfare, so be sure your armor is on, and your oil is full. The secret place must remain your home and all else secondary.
When God delivers you the long-awaited promise of the new thing don’t be like Israel in Isaiah 44:22, “But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob…”
Remember the hand that fed you in the desert and kept you in that wilderness. Any new thing left without God will eventually return to a barren desert and waterless wilderness.
