It is nice to discuss the dreaming with Jesus, the launching of kingdom endeavors, and the pursuit of purpose.
However, there is an inner work that is absolutely critical on this journey to destiny and the fulfillment of what God has called you to.
If the inner work is not as important as the outer work, you’ll eventually be in hot water. The outer work will only get as far as your inner work.
The inner work must be of the utmost importance to you.
When I speak of inner work, we can look at things like integrity and character.
Perhaps we should own any problems with procrastination, delayed obedience, etc.
Among common problems might be excuses, lack of follow-through, or self-sabotage.
All of these things will derail you at some point if an honest evaluation is not done.
Spiritual cover-ups are common, whereby prayer is used as a reason to not “be a doer of the word.” If we’re honest, it can be a self-righteous excuse for laziness.
Proverbs 10:4 Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
How will we ever launch with Christ a Kingdom assignment if we never put the car in drive?
If we have some “survival skills” that we gained during heart woundings we might truly let the devil railroad our destiny.
If people-pleasing takes precedence, your assignment will be easily halted. If you need everyone’s approval to do what God has called you to do then you’ve erected human idols that have unseated Christ in your heart.
If we have internal heart issues that pet a pattern of a lukewarm lifestyle, neglect the assignments God has offered, and refuse to see the log in our own eyes, He might have to remove for a season some things until we truly surrender to Him as LORD of all.
Proverbs 20:4 Sluggards do not plow in season; so at harvest time they look but find nothing.
The inner work is the first work, I dare say, friends.
Let the light of Christ shine into the deep recesses of your heart and get you in line with His.
Wherever He puts His finger, repent and make the course correction. Be honest about your shortcomings, so God can grow you in areas of weakness. He is fully willing and able to change and equip you, so you will be effective in His Kingdom work.
