As I was praying this morning I was speaking to the Lord about a few situations. I’ve found that my daily “Father, can I ask you a question?” seems to please Him and He is eager to answer a questioning heart.
Quickly I heard His answer. “The Eyes of Man.”
The eyes of man will always be prone to choose opposite of the heart of Christ. Even the prophet sent to find The anointed King of Gods choosing looked on the outward appearance when in the process of selection.
But not Christ.
His heart has always chosen the overlooked, the outcast, the ones not deemed appropriate to society.
Even David’s father didn’t invite him to be considered for Kingship. Yet, while the process was underway there was David. Faithfully tending the sheep.
Don’t think for one minute that Jesus wasn’t paying close attention to David’s daily faithfulness. For the sheep have always been near to the heart of Christ.
The eyes of man see with tainted vision. We often choose based on lineage, gender, schooling, etc. Thus we miss the very one hand-picked by God.
How often our choosing has cost us many blessings because we merely had the eyes of man.
It takes a humble heart to see with the eyes of Christ. To realize, and see, when the hand of Jesus is on a life even if that life isn’t your personal preference or what you expected.
Would you have seen, like Christ, a woman at the well who would soon prove to be a critical preacher of the gospel or would you have dismissed her?
Would you have seen Gideon as a man of valor or David as a possible chosen one? Would you have chosen Esther to save a people?
Or would you merely see with the eyes of man?
