This morning after prayer a song began to sing in my heart.
Rewind:
I remember the day a demon-possessed woman (literally) set her eyes on me in a ministry building I was working in. I had never been through anything so frightening, yet revealing, of the power of Christ in me.
It was a harrowing experience, but the Lord prompted me to keep singing a song I was rehearsing when she came in. The song was one I had previously written called, “There is a Name.”
As the music played, she was visibly tormented and angry and kept flipping over on the couch like an animal. Her eyes never for one second left me. I closed my eyes as the Lord said, “Keep singing.” (Remembering the story of David playing music and Saul being tormented by evil spirits, I obeyed.)
I didn’t know at the time Jesus was training me.
When I got to the chorus singing of “that name,” she sat straight up on the couch and began screaming at me to stop.
I kept singing…completely shaken at that moment. Many friends had come upfront and strategically positioned themselves in prayer as we waited for the police to show up.
All I knew was that I was about to find out if I really believed what I had been preaching all of these years.
Fast Forward:
Recently, I’ve also seen the name of Jesus break demonic strongholds in the lives of those being taunted and oppressed by the enemy.
I’ve watched devils flee at the name of Jesus as I’ve learned with Him to stand in simple faith.
I’ve come to understand there is a supernatural weight and power in the name of Jesus. I’ve always been told of this but, frankly, not until you see it supernaturally necessary will you know that you fully believe it to be true. Your study will only take you so far, friends.
May you, too, find this song singing in your heart, and may you look FULLY into His wonderful face and hold fast to the simplicity of the name of Jesus and the power of the gospel of Christ to save, redeem, and set captives free.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
There’s just something about that name.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain…
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all Heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away there’s something about that name.
