Jesus has a beautiful way of testing the motives of our hearts.
We will be put in situations where we can exercise authority, gifting, and influence.
Some of those times Jesus wants to see if we have the ability to take a low seat.
In other words, just because I can doesn’t always mean I should.
We can walk in full authority while getting used to taking a low seat.
Jesus will give me a room very often, yet, beckon me to remain silent.
One may offer a pulpit and platform at times while the Holy Spirit whispers, “Not yours-not now.”
Submission is actually a lovely thing to master when learning to go low.
Often I must “pull back” when Christ is helping another little bird fly. That little bird’s destiny depends on my ability to take the low seat.
Maturity in this walk with Christ is exhibited in a most impactful way when we are finally able to love taking a low seat.
The pressure is off friends. We miss nothing by taking the low seat. We actually gain the attention and approving gaze of the Lord.
While the world and church clamor for us to make a “big splash” or to “take the bull by the horns…
Learn to take the low seat.
Jesus did…

Luke 22:26 But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest and the leader like the servant.
Mark 9: 35 Sitting down, He called the twelve and *said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, [a]he shall be last of all and servant of all.”
