Woah…Jesus is stirring the stingy today!
We seem to have a problem in the body of Christ. We have become a stingy people. Hoarders of what God has entrusted into our hands. Keepers of that which was meant to be given.
stin·gy
/ˈstinjē/
adjectiveINFORMAL
- unwilling to give or spend; ungenerous.”his employer is stingy and idle”
Brethren, this goes against all Christ taught in His word. He meant for us to be a generous people. To hold loosely our possessions, our finances, our time. All was meant to be spent in accordance with His will and His Kingdom’s work. Some of us have no problem spending on that which is entirely unfruitful and oftentimes linked to the dark realm. Interesting, isn’t it? Where does His money go these days? Yikes…the thought of accountability on that one brings me a healthy fear of the Lord. Don’t forget that He is very much a jealous God for what is His.
Listen, people of God, Jesus ain’t stingy. If He really lives in you, you won’t be, either.
I had the lovely joy of sowing into a ministry this morning, helping evacuate 65 people to safety from a persecuted country. I couldn’t wait to hit the donate button! What an honor to join in such beautiful work!
I saw in the spirit what that seed would accomplish and in an instant, God showed me how that was written down in my faith journey as a blessing I was used for as a member of His body. These were people that I don’t even know, but I saw the need and answered the call because I didn’t mind letting go of money that was loaned by Heaven anyway. I knew I would reap well from what I had sown because it’s what His Word says. My heart was overflowing!!!
We, in the west, are spiritual hoarders. We often give begrudgingly rather than joyfully. We love to take good care of ourselves first, but this was never the way of Christ. His life was given for the benefit of others. We are stingy with any type of giving. Let’s just own it. But please, let’s also repent of it and change it.
Check this out:
Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him, it is sin.
James 4:17
God will test you in this area to teach you of His generous heart. He will also reward any cheerful giver. He will put you in a position to use even your last dollar on others rather than yourself.
Some will pass the test, some will not. It’s a rough school you’ll stay enrolled in until you bow your knees to Christ on it. I hate repeating the same class over and over…
So, which one will you be?
A cheerful giver or a spiritual hoarder?
One is stingy and one is not.
