1Sa 9:27 – And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.
It is often that when God is needing to speak a significant word to me that I might find myself in a position of “standing thou still a while.”
I work as fast paced as anyone else and yet suddenly I’ll find I’ve been forcibly guided beside some unexpected still waters where my ear is to the floor listening for the harkening of Heaven.
Right before Saul was anointed by Samuel, the prophet bid him to let his servant pass on before them leaving them alone to discuss the shewing of the word of God.
Stillness is often necessary before God reveals a coming assignment. Many of us just might find an unwelcome halting of things where the wind becomes eerily stilled yet it is where you will now be given your orders.
His sovereignty is still supreme and His heart desires will come take hold when you find yourself at a crossroads and it is His desired timing to do a thing.
Don’t waste the “stand thou still” time. Expect to hear from The King of Kings. Bend as low as you must. Go face down in worship. Let your knees become sore from kneeling.
For the stillness might be readying you for “a way you’ve never been before.”
