You are never too old with Jesus to grow. I’m so thankful for this truth.
Over the past few years God has been restoring worship to me. However, it has not been the same as before.
Through a deep valley season He pulled out the hidden poet in me and awakened a prophetic gift I didn’t know I had. I surely never knew it could be used in worship.
Do you realize the “Maker” of you knows what He placed in you even when you do not and He intends on pulling all that is there out of you in due season?
He began to place me with people of like hearts and minds. In environments where the gift in me would be stirred up.
FYI: if you’re in a place that doesn’t allow space for His gifts, you’ll have a hard time ever getting what’s in you stirred up.
While in this type of training I fell in love with worship again. Yet, it was very different for me.
There was no focus on the audience… only the audience of one. Honestly, this is the way it was always meant to me. We’ve flipped the script on that one much to our detriment.
I heard a sermon yesterday that was profound. The preacher said, “We’re expecting people who aren’t in love with Jesus to worship Him.” Therefore, while in worship I can’t make anyone worship Christ. It’s a heart issue.
Fill a room full of real lovers of Jesus and you’ll see worship organically happen. No one has to tell them how to worship, they know how to enter in all on their own.
This past month the Lord graciously placed my feet into worship gatherings where myself and a dear friend on piano would be responsible for spontaneous worship. If you’re from my religious background, you’ll not understand this so let me explain.
It’s where you wait on the Lord and worship as the Holy Spirit gives unction. My friend plays what she hears and I sing what I hear. No rehearsals or preplanned set lists.
Remember I’m the former OCD girl afraid of not knowing every detail expected of me so this goes entirely against my natural tendencies.
However, in Gods sovereignty and knowing of who I am entirely, I have found out His way with me in worship.
It’s such a lovely partnering with the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to have the floor. While we worship Him He begins to inhabit the praise of His people and graciously responds.
I’m learning the beauty of waiting on Him in worship, letting the instruments sing to Him while learning to be still in silence.
It is likely the most freeing thing He has ever taught me.
No performance. No plan.
Just following His lead.
For 2 1/2 hours yesterday we had the honor of worshiping spontaneously before and to the Lord. He responded with words of knowledge, visions, and His precious heart for us and His church.
I’m learning that even when I enter in to bless Him, He cannot help but bless us back. It’s simply who He is.
All worship I believe is beautiful to Him and He loves diversity, which we have too little of in the body of Christ. We’ve relegated worship to familiar ways, timelines, styles, and types. Yet, there is still more.
We found out in our prayer room that prayer was a partnering with Him and He loved to respond back to us when we gave Him room to do so.
Now I’m finding that worship is the same. When we give Him room, He responds with what’s on His heart and He begins to sing it over His people through His vessels.
I love what I’m learning from Him in this season. It’s brand new to me but certainly not to Him.
Psalm 96:1
Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth.
