It was around 4:30 this morning when I awoke to these words stirring in my heart and Spirit. It must be important to the Lord.
There’s a platform whereby the enemy sets up a “thing” to allure you. A platform can be good, but it can also be man-made and full of self. There will be plenty of accolades for every kind of platform. Audiences these days flock to those with platforms and have taken a seat at shallow gatherings. At some point, friends, we better get off the milk.
Most of us don’t want the platform Christ had. The one where the gospel is preached with the risk of persecution or even death, broken hearts are healed and demons are cast out of captive men. The very things He said would follow those who believe. This was the normal life of those following Christ.
I had to come to a place where I understood I had been given certain “tools” to use, but they could never be a platform I would build whereby the gaze was set on me rather than on Jesus.
Where have we come to? Building brands and empires seems to be our “thing.” We applaud it as if it’s God and many even call it God when very often the devil smirks at a powerless counterfeit. We have not even been trained to know the difference. We are happy-go-lucky and left with nothing.
Listen, we need people to learn to hear God’s voice rather than their own. We need deep stirrings, deep truths, and a putting to work of every spiritual gift that the Holy Spirit promised to give us.
Too many have left the supernatural ways of God on the table, and thus the meetings are void of Him at all.
Who and what are you following, friends? Some well-known person who has given you tips to be successful?
You won’t find it in the life of Jesus or those disciples. You won’t find large crowds really following by risking life and limb for the sake of others. You will, however, find crowds of people leaving. Deciding not to follow Christ and go their own way. They wanted the blessings He offered, but none of the sacrifice and obedience. Sound familiar?
However, today, we risk life and limb for all manner of powerless platforms. In the end, it will all burn up.
I’m learning to check my heart when it comes to any kind of platform.
Ultimately, I may have a platform, but the platform better not have me.
–
There is a platform that’s bittersweet
But some are merely flattery
For Christ has said we must come low
Become a servant with cross in tow.
We do not need a shallow faith
Or lead men into man-made ways
The treasures rest in His deep name
Where captives are loosed and souls are saved.
Position yourself for greater works
Go out to the deep with fishing hooks
Wreck all of Hell with power and might
That only can come through Heaven’s sight
Release the need for platforms, friend,
Idolatry is but a deep, deep sin
And Christ has made you now for more
Than lesser tables where devils roar.
Come up higher and set your face
Let Him alone prepare your way
Gather with those possessing power
For it is what is needed this hour.
If in God’s time a platform He gives
Consecrate it only to Him
For He’s the only Master indeed
To Him alone bow your knees.
