This is likely the most interesting word from the Lord I’ve ever received. As I was reading in the swimming pool I began to sing in the Spirit. I eventually recognized the tune as the old nursery rhyme, “Pop Goes the Weasel.”
I went to pull up the lyrics and here is the “Americanized” version. (Really important point)
All around the cobbler’s bench,
The monkey chased the weasel.
The preacher kissed the cobbler’s wife
—
Pop! goes the weasel!
A penny for a spool of thread,
Another for a needle,
That’s the way the money goes
—
Pop! Goes the weasel!
I went to the Word of God wondering if a weasel was mentioned to discern what the Lord might be saying.
Lev 11:29 – These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind…
I believe God has placed His finger on unclean preachers. Directly prior to the song I had asked God to unseat all illegitimate authority in His house and to get His chosen people in position.
He brought to my mind when the prophet was sent to anoint the next King but the father lined up all the brothers except God’s choice. Even the prophet almost fell for outward appearances if God had not said, “No” to them all. Finally, the prophet asked if there was another. There happened to be one out tending the sheep. It was David. A small shepherd boy. He was the one chosen by the Lord as King.
I believe the Lord is saying that in His house we’ve often chosen the “brothers” instead of the “Davids.” (Has nothing to do with gender here so this can also apply to female leaders)
We’ve fallen prey to outward appearances and have missed, or not discerned, inner deception. It’s a significant reason the church is in need of a spiritual purging. God will not be mocked.
When we look at the second verse of the nursery rhyme, we see it’s all about money. The same goes for today. Many are self-proclaimed leaders because there is a paycheck involved. You’ll likely not find them in position if there is no financial payday. Instead of being people centered, they are money centered and take wrongly from God’s flock. They are merely hirelings.
John 10:13 – “The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.
To sum this up, it looks like the Holy Spirit is highlighting a significant problem with “unclean” preachers who are placed in leading roles by man, not God. These seem to also have a hidden affection for sexual immorality without repentance. As noted, “the preacher kissed the cobblers wife.”
The Lord seems to have a final word on what He is about to do to expose hidden deception in those claiming to be preachers….so do not be surprised when you see a sudden changing of the guard in many houses of worship in America. It will be a work of the LORD, Himself.
This is a season of “Pop goes the weasel…”
May His righteousness reign.
