There is no magic formula to moving the hand of God. We must simply submit to Him and yield as He leads. He listens, and He has a timing appointed to everything under the sun. (Eccl. 3)
I think it’s in our nature to want a 5-Step process to get to Jesus. Yet, His wind blows as it will and often makes no logical sense. But we somehow want it all to be rational. If I do “this” then He will do “that.” Thus, we walk right back into a works mentality. It’s subtle but nonetheless true.
I am finding that as He teaches me how to pray for the deliverance of a unique heart, the process itself will be as unique. I can’t follow a formula. What worked before may not work again. I can learn from past ministry moments, but I must let Holy Spirit tell me the unique issue of every heart.
Wrapped up in one moment is a specific set of circumstances not like any other and I must wait on Heaven to send me the report.
Faith is required in this walk. Often, I feel nothing. No fire. No presence. Nothing. Yet, I walk by faith and not by sight. Either I believe Him, or I don’t.
In order to go where Christ is going, we will likely have to lay down our possible strategies and let Him have His way.
Many people study how to pray. Yet, the most powerful prayer I’ve experienced with Christ was the one with no words, only inner groanings and moans of the worst kind. In varying moments my prayers change. Some are soft while others are loud warfare.
A ritual prayer matters little to our God. He is fully relational with us. He is paying attention to the heart of the matter. He longs to commune with us, personally.
Release every expectation. Every taught way. Every man-made step to Christ Jesus. Every compulsive thought to detail out the way you believe He should do a thing.
And simply yield.
Yield in the moment. Yield in the rest. Yield in the listening. Yield while in prayer.
Otherwise, we will find ourselves chasing our tails once again trying all manner of “this and that” in hopes God will answer.
I’m finding more revelation these days in Jeremiah 33:3. ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things (secrets & mysteries) you do not know.’
There is the simple promise in that scripture: “Call and I will answer.”
May we refrain from the many boxes we like to put Him in and may we seek His ways with us rather than His ways with others.
