“My Little Lighthouses”
I was so full of joy when I began to hear the Lord speak to me about His “little lighthouses.”
He had just shown me a lighthouse shining brightly in the depth of darkness. The waves were crashing violently upon the rocky shore. The night was the darkest I had ever seen and the fog was dense and thick.
But that lighthouse was burning brightly in the dead of night leading many home. It was not moved in the least by the violent storm. It simply continued to do its job.
This scripture came to my heart:
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
Then suddenly I could see many small lighthouses which I knew were the body of Christ lighting the way. He moved quickly to say, “My little lighthouses.” There was such an endearing tone to His voice.
I could see the lighthouses being lit by His Spirit and they burned so brightly despite the darkness, the dense fog, or the crashing waves.
While all the lighthouses were ignited by the same source of the Light of Christ, each little lighthouse seemed to operate differently drawing unique hearts to “come and see.”
Then I remembered the scripture about the members of the body working together:
1 Corinthians 12:12-27
One Body with Many Members
12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
….and I could see the song, “This little light of mine I’m gonna let it shine.”
There was a lovely childlike faith and “feeling” coming forward in the night air. No one was hiding their light under a basket or dimming the Light from being bright. They were not ashamed or tamed. There was no shrinking back but a lovely, and fierce, firmness of faith.
They knew that should they cease to be His lighthouse; many would perish unable to find their way through life’s storms. But if they stayed the course, the Light would outshine every high wave so lost vessels could
make it home.
It was their delightful duty to remain on their post in the lighthouse even when they, too, faced torrential downpours.
The cost was worth it every time they saw another ship come over the storm tossed waves heading to the safety of the shore.
So, dear friend, did you know that you are one of God’s “Little lighthouses?”
Shine brightly, O’ Saint of God!
2 Corinthians 5-6
