In prayer this morning, I was so taken by the jealousy of God.
I felt such an embrace and safety in this very nature of His. His heart was aching to spend time with me. It is for you as well.
How can it be that such a holy and righteous God is so enamored with me that He is jealous for me?
It is certain that He will do whatever it takes to capture my attention, halt plans of evil against me, and hover over me when I am in a painful place.
There is something so tender about this jealousy of God.
To some it seems ridiculous and many ask questions, “Why on earth would I want to follow a jealous God?”
These don’t understand the overwhelming love He has for us. His jealousy is pure and protective in nature. There is nothing vile about it.
If you’ve ever been in a place of onslaught, you would surely want a God so jealous for you that He moves Heaven and Earth to come to your aid?
What woman isn’t a bit smitten with a jealous beau? That nature of Christ that roars, “She is mine!” It is quite lovely to know I am His and He is mine.
His jealousy stands between me and the alluring of sin. His jealousy commands angels in the path of demons sent to harm. His jealousy will take you to heights in the Spirit so you might get a glimpse of His divine ways.
What is there not to love about this jealous God of mine?
Some have never felt the love of such a grand jealousy. I can tell you, today, that the same one jealous for me is also jealous for you.
New Living Translation
You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you. (Exodus 34:14)
