We wish to be as a “little girl”
Dancing through daffodils
Or playing a little hide and seek
With the song of a whippoorwill.
Where gloomy days do not exist
And the sun is always bright
Where shoes they aren’t necessities
For the sand is soft-“just right.”
Yet today I see deep hurting hearts
In many “big girl” eyes
So I must tend these hurting ones
And help them now to rise.
Where pain has wrought a tethered soul
And together we unwind
Every sneaky little lie
That steals her joy in life.
But once the healing does progress
Those “little girls” do rise
You’ll see them pulled beside the road
Picking dandelions.
You may sure find one or two
Running with the wind
For Father has just set them free
And now they run with Him.
If your lucky you’ll catch a glimpse
Of a field of lovely blooms
With many “big girls” smelling scents
As Heaven brings their groom.
And when it rains they won’t be sad
For Father sees their need
And they have come to understand
That rain does water seed.
So when you see a “big girl” now
Ask the Lord for eyes
To see the hidden “little girl”
Perhaps with hidden cries.
For what Christ sees in that “big girl”
Is the “little girl” He formed
The very one He chose as His
And knows she’s made for more.
