I have found that in the heart of many women are buried dreams. This comes and that comes and sooner or later all of our little girl dreams seem to get pushed by the wayside.
Many I have asked, “What if that dream was a God dream?”
You see, Jesus often works wildly with the faith of a child because the world has not yet stolen the adventurous heart and starry eyes. All things are still possible, you see.
It doesn’t take long before reality speaks and throws a warm blanket over every heart-skipping dream. There is always someone who will gladly tell you, “You can’t.”
When I look back over my life, even before Christ, there were some clues that, of course, I would not have noticed back then of who I might become.
I wanted to do nothing more than be a singer. It was all I thought about. Later when I came to Christ, He showed me how to use it for Him and He fulfilled that sweet little girl dream. However, it never really blossomed until I met the “Heavenly song-giver.” Jesus is THE big game changer.
While poetry was not at all a personal desire (I actually hated it)-I was fairly decent in English and later in college had a particular bent to compiling papers. I preferred a book report or research paper over an exam any day. I enjoyed writing papers and bringing a concept together from beginning to end. That helps me tremendously today as we produce and publish magazines and books through our publishing house. But I still didn’t know I was a writer or poet. God loves to place in us little surprises that show up when the appointed time has come.
Growing up I had trouble watching someone eat their lunch alone in school or even at a restaurant. It made me quite sad. It would nag at my heart for long periods of time. Later in life it was the same- even before Jesus.
Even then He was giving me eyes to see the hurting and giving me a burden to love the lonely. I didn’t know I would become one who would walk valleys with hurting hearts in need.
What about you? If I were to take you back to your “little girl” days, what would you find hidden? Is anything long forgotten that, perhaps, Christ would like to rekindle?
The thing about destiny and calling is that you can’t really run from it. You can certainly try but you’ll be utterly miserable until you are fulfilling that which you were created for. It’s absolutely part of who you are. It has been weaved into your very being and it can’t be separated from who you are.
So, in essence, you’ll never be satisfied in life until you first, meet the CREATOR of your dreams-Christ-and 2nd, you’re doing what He has designed you to do for His Kingdom.
So, grab a journal. Pray and ponder. Write what you see.
You might just find God in some long lost places and realize once again that with God all things are still possible
