Jump
Faith requires you to jump
Off the ground to arms of trust
If on the ground you do remain
Then on the ground you’ll always stay.
Come as children, hunger and thirst
Tossed in air till laughter bursts
Bring to memory thy sheer delight
As you felt yourself take flight.
The hardest part is finding wings
Wings of faith and true belief
Step up close to meadows edge
Don’t look down just lift thy legs.
Faith is seeing up ahead
That which Christ already said
Even when the vision’s dead
Trust that He can resurrect.
Taking off will take such strength
But not the strength in human things
Strength that comes in catching wind
No flapping that drains one’s strength again.
In Thy wind is precious peace
Resting while Christ carries thee
Yet in rest we higher climb
To heights beyond our natural eyes.
