Over the last few years God has been kind to direct me through His Word and through dreams to what He desired as His next assignments. He seems to always be on the move.
I’ve learned that many of my good ideas were not God ideas in the past. My own heart in many matters was so desperate for a space that I could drum up just about anything. It’s quite common and likely the reason much is done with little spiritual fruit. It’s also beneficial to grow in years with Christ. Much of that “have to” goes away and you’ll be glad to let God bring His plans to you.
If my motive for a thing is to be seen or to compete or to fulfill a secret desire, then eventually that thing will fold. He has to birth it Himself.
I’m not talking about seasonal shifts with God where some things simply come to an end. I am talking about ideas that seemed good but weren’t really directed by God.
God must orchestrate moves and ministry. We talk a lot in our Dream Big Support Group that we are not trying to birth our own dreams. We are birthing His dreams that He has placed in us. We must know the difference.
David was known for inquiring of the Lord. God was always specific about whether David was to go up and fight or stand down. At times he was even given specific timing on those matters, “Wait until you hear the shaking of the trees.” (Paraphrasing.)
I’ve also learned an open door does not always equal God. The devil is pretty fancy at opening doors too.
Some of us simply are not fulfilled in that which we do. So, we run from this place to that place and this person to that person to see if we can get an inroad. Perhaps it’s because it’s not that which He has called us to. It is only feeding our flesh and “want to.” That never lasts too long.
The Spirit gives life. The flesh counts for nothing.
Moses was wise to tell the Lord, “I’m not going up that mountain if you’re not with me.”
We should be so wise to do the same. He is fully capable of unfolding His own plans. All we need to do is seek first His kingdom and righteousness…. He will add all the rest.
