I could have taken an easier path.
I could have walked the wider road.
I could have remained silent and got the bookings.
I could have paid for the steady applause.
I could have remained quiet under ungodly laws.
But death it has been working in me
And this life with Christ has become one indeed.
And for every loss has been a gain
But not one deemed by worldly acclaim.
I could have let devils sit in peace
Instead of setting captives free
I could, yes, have taken the passive approach
But the Kingdom is taken by the Holy Ghost.
I could have not questioned the sins of our day
And sat on the sidelines just playing games
But chosen I am to divide with a sword
A priest with a purpose with Jesus as LORD.
On days when the battle is the hottest of fires
And Jesus does say, “Be unmoved by liars.”
I rest on my knees, my head in my hands
And Jesus does whisper, “You must rise again.”
