I was cleaning dishes on this particular day and I was so grateful for the way the Lord had tenderly spoken to me already. Worshiping Him this day was a sweet time and it left my heart so tender to Him. I was talking to Him as I did the dishes and this little poem came quickly. A couple years ago the Lord gave me the color silver to represent my year and the following year was gold. Silver was signifying a season of “redeeming the time” as I had a deep valley season that was painful and this was His promise to me during the darkness. Gold represented a year of “coming forth as gold” after such difficulties.
I did not ask for a color last year and really had forgotten to put it before Him. Not until while doing dishes did it enter my heart again. The amazing thing is that as I was researching the meaning of “green” it also meant to bloom, be fruitful, and to flourish. All which the Lord had been speaking to me recently. What beautiful ways He encourages and speaks to us! Perhaps you could ask for something, even a color, that represents your new season with Christ in 2018. Most often, we receive not because we ask not. I learned this asking from another beautiful sister in Christ who stirred it up also in my own heart. So, I began to ask also….and He did answer:)
If I asked of you a color, Lord,
Representing this new year
Tell me what now it shall be
And why you choose it dear?
Inside my heart and mind does come
The color clear “Tis’ green?”
But tell me, Lord, why is this
The color you now speak?
My child, tis’ coming a season lush
With meadows fresh and green
Ripe they are and watered well
Drenched with tears and screams.
Some places I have set thine feet
Will be new borders too
Filled with wild and greenest knolls
And rolling hills anew.
For green is growth and grow you will
Deeper in Me still
While bearing others burdens too
With vineyards full that yield.
Fruit from many seasons past
Cultivated well
And too shall come the fallowed ground
Yielding fruitful wells.
Green will also have its tests
For envy comes with tales
Test the spirits sent, do sift
For some are sent from Hell.
Jealous bites will manifest
Dare not to turn thy back
But never fear when you are pressed
There is nothing that you lack.
So keep your eyes focused firm
And hear your Shepherd’s voice
For I will lead you onward still
To pastures green and moist.
And when in times of hardship come
Do know I meet your needs
For you will Flourish and prosper new
It’s why I’ve chosen you, “green.”
