I talk a lot about the kindness of God. I hope you never tire of it. He still amazes me daily. He has restored so much to this heart that I just shake my head and laugh at times.
He has this way of calling forward something that seems, very often, utterly ridiculous. Foolish! Yet, I’ve learned you’d best be willing to appear as a fool for Christ Jesus, when necessary.
It has usually been the most seemingly insignificant things that He has used to love on a heart in need. He is a Master at working undercover. Sometimes, I don’t even realize it until later.
At times, I’ve been scoffed at for using plastic tiara’s to show girls and women their royal inheritance. I’ve been laughed at for using feather boas to share Psalm 91:4. I’ve been called extreme when I do things differently from some. But I’ve seen the Holy Spirit bring a wellspring of tears at the mere placement of a crown on a woman who never knew her identity through Christ. I’ve seen a woman bury her head in my chest as I covered her with a feather boa to remind her of Gods unseen care for her. I’ve watched a heart melt before Jesus when I’ve let Him choose music His way for an audience knowing He knew what songs were intimate to certain hearts. I’ve heard the wailing of broken hearts as a poem came through me from Heaven to rest in an unsuspecting heart needing a “now” word.
You see. Jesus isn’t like us. We love our pomp and circumstance. He never did. Still doesn’t. He grabbed the outcasts of society and gave them new names. Then He sent them out to call for freedom in other hearts. He chose the weakest vessels. We love that part, huh? Yet, some are still surprised God would use women? Known as a “weaker vessel.”
Ahhh, the pride of man still exists, today. Loud and strong. Rejecting the “foolish” ways of God and the “fools” He has chosen.
My suggestion to you, dear friend, is put your blinders on. Let Jesus show you His way. It’s usually simpler, lovelier, and crazier than we want to realize or admit.
He’s the God that used a few fish and loaves, turned a rod into a serpent, chose a harlot to shelter men, sent a woman to lead Israel into battle, and shook mulberry trees when necessary.
He baked a cake for Elijah, dropped manna (“Angel food”) from Heaven, used spit and mud for a blind man, and called men to march 7 rounds to bring down walls.
So listen, He uses the foolish things to put to shame those who think they are wise.
I’d rather be a fool for Jesus any day.
Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 1 Corinthians 1:27
