So I was walking in my secret place this morning. It is a beautifully perfect day to walk with the Lord. Usually I put on a sermon or worship music…but it seemed all creation was praising and I didn’t want to miss any of it:) Quickly a dove flew down and landed before me on the road..lol..awww… and a few minutes later I happened upon a little squirrel who seemed not at all bothered by me so I was able to snap a quick picture ..of course! I barely got a few more steps when I spotted my little roadrunner who shares this space with me from year to year. For those who do not remember…when I researched the roadrunner (because sometimes God is speaking to us through His creation) it is known as a “snake killer!” Hey any snake killer is a friend of mine..and frankly I have one in particular I tend to always be battling with yes? Satan is a crafty serpent..yet Christ won the victory already..woop!
Ok, I turned the corner and a little Doodle Bug caught my attention because it was running from a hoard of ants. I mean seriously it was awful. No I do not usually notice stuff quite like this..well mostly..but I had to stop and watch as the ants caught up with it and a few began to crawl on him so rolled up into a little ball and I promise it was as if they whistled for their buddies who all came quickly for the attack! I just couldn’t watch it!
It reminded me of spiritual warfare and my own times of struggle. Begging for God to send help! He is my help -yes! But sometimes we just need a loving face to reach down and pull us up! To remind us we are cherished and loved and we are not alone in this battle.. Sometimes it’s like running and when you get knocked down…more and more keep coming! Satan loves to kick us when we are down! The spiritual battle is real friends. Many do not talk about, acknowledge, or believe in this. So Satan has accomplished much in deceiving many into this lie:(…Listen peeps, KNOW YOUR ENEMY!
Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Sometimes the battle is fierce and we need a little help from our brothers and sisters. It’s what He intended for the body of Christ. For encouragement, support, and help when in need. I grabbed this little doodle bug and knocked all the ants off…he then hurried to safety. He had trouble climbing the curb and I wondered as I reached my hand out to help him up if this is how our Father is. Going the extra mile to get us to safety. Of course He is:)I could have watched him struggle or watched to see if he could climb the curb after exhaustion set in. But why would I do that if I have the ability to lift him up? What was given to me..I pray I always in turn give to another in the struggle.
So remember..don’t pass the “doodlebugs”….we are all one at one time or another:)
