Do you hear the call of Christ that demands death?
The world today offers us a shallow gospel whereby we can live any ole’ way and suppose we may stand untainted before a Holy God.
Where are the holiness preachers? The voices that speak of how God slays the inner man in much the same way He, Himself, was slain.
Many are following a counterfeit Christ.
If that voice you’re following walks you into a compromise, you aren’t following Jesus. You are following another.
Following Jesus kills the natural man and in light of His glory one puts off that old man, buries him, and writes dates on his tombstone as he waves goodbye.
Come and die.
The new birth is quite supernatural in nature and breathes life and freedom into the sinner’s heart. Chains break and fall. Light comes.
He truly will give us a new heart to replace that hard one. He is merciful and kind. Loving and patient.
But death is His aim.
So then death is working in us, but life in you. 2 Corinthians 4:12
Many of today’s influencers are using platforms to lead us into feel-good messages and self-focus that allow us to follow our own hearts right back to sin city.
Listen, don’t you dare follow your heart. It will take you back to drug dens and illicit affairs. Sexual perversion and hatred that brews. It will help you get back to the life Christ came to kill in you. Stay off that slippery slope.
Come and die.
Death is freeing. Much of what our hearts want is nothing but bondage. Aren’t you tired of it all?
Let us embrace the freedom of the cross whereby eternal life is had, and the natural life becomes supernatural.
Let us see the heart of the Father who knows that the slaying will bring rivers of living water and a life we never thought possible.
The underlying sorrow and sin-sickness many feel today is the lack of surrender. It’s the demand of one’s heart to cling to a life that needs to be put to death once and for all.
It’s quite difficult to keep straddling that fence. It will soon exhaust many.
Come to the living water and rest awhile. Find peace where striving is no longer.
It’s where you are able to place your heart into the hands of a Savior who loves best and say, “All to thee, I surrender.”
Today, the call goes out again.
If you want to follow Jesus…
Come and die.
