Can I ask what stirs thy heart
And causes passion to rise
Can I ask you to be honest
Do you see with Father’s eyes?
For apathy and complacency
Has rested in the Church
The Church who once was vibrant
And let THE SPIRIT birth.
I’ve combed the scriptures in quiet
I’ve pleaded before the Lord
He’s shown me visions and heartache
And His longing to restore.
Yet I find us in this “settling”
Of familiarity
And rarely do I see now
That which I do read.
I read of people proclaiming
His love upon the streets
Moving town to town
As the Spirit leads.
I watch as David dances
And I see the altar used
But now I see despondance
A people so confused.
I see a faith that moves mountains
A trust that He parts seas
A people fed by ravens
Where obedience is the key.
I see boys that slay giants
And women who lead the war
And now I see and recognize
Partiality and more.
I hear much of theology
And debates to prove we’re right
Yet little is taught of His Spirit
Who was sent to give us sight.
I see a Christ who’s weeping
Whose moved with compassion it seems
Yet now I see a people
Who care not of wounds and needs.
I’m convicted at stories of surrender
At those who gave their all
Their possessions, families, and identity
Were 2nd to The Call.
For in the Word I see followers
Who saw need and knew it to be
The Christ inside them walking
To that which from within He sees.
