If you want to know how to help people, check in on them.
You would be amazed at how often we hear of hearts in valley seasons, and no one really checked on them.
When someone is in grief, you can’t take the pain away or rush the healing process, but you can check in on them. They will never forget that you cared enough to do so but they will also never forget when you didn’t. It causes double pain. A deeper grief.
Painful seasons are hard for everyone. People need to be heard in their pain and honestly, if Jesus is really living in us, we will take the time to listen.
Sometimes
Instead of preaching,
Listen.
You might be surprised how self-righteous we get when people are in pain. Truth is, we don’t have all the answers.
Learn to love well. Care deeply. Be long-suffering, even if it’s years of helping someone walk it out.
Let’s keep people close in a world that is trying to dissolve intimate relationships among us.
Make sure people are ok because, in all honesty, some are not.
