This past year, the Lord began to show me some blind spots in my heart and in my thinking. Truly, we all have them. I would even present to you much of the time it’s those of us in the body who have had years of walking with the Lord that may indeed have blind spots that seem to go undetected. I have always said one of the most dangerous places to live spiritually is in the Bible Belt. Because so much has become ritual and normal that we no longer see our own sin. We at times refuse God’s work outside of that which we have always known. The problem is we have never stepped outside our world to see God at work elsewhere so we form ideals and theologies that honestly are man made. We take all we are told as truth and never dig deep to let the Holy Spirit teach us the Word for ourselves. We depend on others to “feed us” rather than God Himself to feed us. What a dangerous place indeed. So why do you believe what you believe? Is is because God has shown you?.. or because it’s what you have always been taught? So then let me ask this: What if all you were taught was wrong? How would you know?
Let us ask the Lord to continue to reveal our own Blind Spots..that we may be secure in the truth of His Word and what He meant when it was written. Let us also walk in the assurance that our relationships, decisions, and hearts have pure motives and are not deceptive in nature. That what we really do seek is God’s decisions and choices above our own ideas and leanings. For the body of Christ needs one another and Christ loves His church. Likewise, He grieves over our division and wounding of one another. Let us be ever so cautious to watch and pray knowing great deception has infiltrated the church and many are being led astray. Let us not dull the voice and unction of conviction to stay clear of snares of the enemy…even when they seem good, right, and correct. For Satan comes as an angel of light… Ask the Lord to give us eyes to see past the counterfeits and setups..and straight to His truth and path. And remember..if the pharisees and religious leaders were wrong in Christ’s day…dare not have such pride to think we could not be as well.
“I cannot endure false doctrine, however neatly it may be put before me. Would you have me eat poisoned meat because the dish is of the choicest ware? It makes me indignant when I hear another gospel put before the people with enticing words by man who would fair make merchandise of souls; and I marvel at those who have soft words for such deceivers. “That is your bigotry,” says one. Call it so if you like; but it is the BIGOTRY OF THE LOVING JOHN, who wrote, “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed; for he that biddeth him Godspeed is partaker of his evil deeds.” I would to God we all had more of such decision, for the lack of it is depriving our religious life of its backbone and substituting for honest manliness a mass of tremulous jelly of mutual flattery. HE WHO DOES NOT HATE THE FALSE DOES NOT LOVE THE TRUE; and he to whom it is all the same, whether it be God’s word or man’s, is himself unrenewed at heart. Oh, if some of you were like your fathers, you would not have tolerated in this age the wagon loads of trash under which the gospel has been of late buried by ministers of your own choosing. The apostle spake by inspiration when he said, “If we or an angel from heaven preach to you any other gospel than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” According to modem effeminacy he ought to have said, “Let him be kindly spoken with in private, but pray make no stir. No doubt the good brother has his own original modes of thought and we must not question his liberty. Doubtless he believes the same as we do, only there is some little difference as to terms.” This is treason to Christ and treachery to truth and cruelty to souls. IF WE LOVE OUR LORD, WE SHALL KEEP HIS WORDS AND STAND FAST IN THE FAITH, coming out from among the false teachers. Nor is this inconsistent with charity; for the truest love to those who err is not to fraternize with them in their error, but to be faithful to Jesus Christ in all things.” – Charles Spurgeon
Dare we allow God to look upon our own hearts and place His Holy finger on our own blind spots… Not only that which we deem “large” transgressions…but the “small” ones we overlook such as pride, denying of His power, the knowing of the good thing to do yet refusing to do it, the heart void of loving compassion for fellow men and women while we fulfill our own ways….for Christ came for others while laying down His own life and will to fulfill the Fathers….may we be consumed by Godly, penitent sorrow at choosing less than God’s own heart..Come Almighty YAHushua..and open thine eyes to see.
Blind Spots
A blind spot of sorts fills Thy church
Resembling the days I walked the earth
Religion invades the land with a spear
Wounding thy flocks with no ears to hear.
In days of old sure of their plight
Voices from the Temple resounded on high
Lofty a glance upon hearts I dear love
Shouting against Thy work set above.
Healing on Sabbath anger did rise
I still see today the same spirits in eyes
Binding Thy work planned long ago
In those I have sent to encourage souls.
Yesterday came with rituals much
The same I see now disguised in your clutch
Wrapped in a way you can’t seem to see
Denying My power in gatherings each week.
My prophets have come with message to bare
But many abandoned unable to share.
Hearts have turned wicked
Assimilation of love
Praise from the lips, deceit from the tongue.
Remember the wine skin taught in Thy Word?
Consume Holy scriptures and please quickly turn..
Tearing the seams of that which I’ve sewn
For much of thy New merely filled with the Old.
So open thine eyes ..see what I see.
Deceiving spirits have been released.
Until freedom reigns in Spirit and Truth
Thy promise evades My people today too.
We must be very cautious to test the spirits against the Word of God. For we live in a world where the enemy has cleverly disguised and distorted truths. He has allured us and baited us with our own emotions and seen our lack of knowledge of the Word of God. “People are destroyed for lack of knowledge..” Likewise, discernment and the fruits of the Spirit must be used as we test a situation as being from the Lord…or merely a counterfeit setup to destroy or derail God’s plan. In the last days it will be critical to know the difference lest we be deceived.
