There is a place beside the brook where Christ calls one’s heart.
It will be a struggle to resist the enemy’s busy attempts to hold you from rest.
Yet resist him you must.
As Christ grabs your hand and you agree to walk the land with Him He will carry you beside a quiet waters.
As you near, you will hear the beauty of the humming waters as they ripple ever so quietly.
Your heart will be refreshed just by listening to them allure you to “be still.”
This stream of rushing waters has with it “rest” and calls you to simply “lie down.”
Leave all behind when the Great Shepherd leads you to such a place.
For there is a necessity here to quiet the soul and strengthen the heart.
The waters must wash away the world and voices that have contended for your attention.
They have demanded much from you and you must be replenished in His presence.
The weariness will fall away at the mere sound of the waters falling over the rocks and the reflection of the sun will warm any areas of your heart that have become cold in this season.
You will be barely able to swim here as the waters hover near massive stones of remembrance, but you will be able to hear the quiet muffle of life under stream as you float on your back with your eyes to the Son.
Remember this is a time of rest and reflection. Deep pondering with Christ.
Let Him immerse you fully that you may escape the worlds frantic desires.
The brook is safe…and beautiful. While you rest, the Shepherd is preparing a table for you. A table that will put to shame your enemies. For He has seen your quiet struggle and has raised His banner to the devil prowling upon your life.
While you are still and soaking up the refreshing escapade of waters dancing from shore to shore, He is anointing you with oil as you give to the living water your promise of obedience when the rest is over.
You will rise now with armor bearers of goodness and mercy and you will never be separated for the rest of your life.
Your cup is running over as you glance back at the still waters and you realize He has renewed your strength and your hope …
You didn’t realize your heart had entered into such a fuss and scurrying about until He led you to the still waters.
What a difference it makes to embrace the quietness of His heart.
Something many may miss should they not dare go with Him beside the brook…
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
