There’s a moment of naivity
When all seems safe and well
Then in one second draws
The enemy’s arrow from Hell.
And when your head is turned
He sets his aim just so
The target is your heart
And deadly the arrow blows.
The pain will pierce at once
Yet, stings ring endlessly
And what you thought was healed
Will open again to seeping.
You grab the arrow in hand
To pull it from it’s home
And to your knees you fall.
He hit the bull’s-eye zone.
And foolish you may feel
For down was then your shield
Yet Christ stood by The Throne
Commanding the Mighty Throng.
For that which He did see
He dresses now for war
And come He will so soon
Recovering all the spoils.
