Some of you don’t know what it’s like to have someone cheering for you on the sidelines. You’ve climbed mountains and set new divine records with Jesus, alone.
You’ve not often known the applause of man erupting with a beautiful, “Way to go!!”
But I have something for you this morning.
As you’ve quietly been faithful to Christ Jesus, Heaven’s hosts filled the stands.
Watching. Waiting. Rooting for you.
Jesus, your commander in chief, was watching with His eye upon you.
I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you. (Psalm 32:8)
Every step you took in faith when no one was holding your hand, Jesus saw it.
He knew you didn’t understand why no one seemed to offer you support, open doors for you when they could, or extend a hand of kindness to you when life became hard.
He saw you almost drowning in that deep valley. He also saw you having to swim alone to safety. Your wounded heart became too heavy for you to carry. But God was on the job all the while.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. (Psalm 121:8)
He knows you felt abandoned. But you weren’t. While maybe people left, Jesus never did.
…”Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
He saw the plans of the enemy far before you did and He had a standard about to lift as He became ready to blow the whistle, “You shall come no further.” Your rescue was always in motion with Jesus.
The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3)
Because you’ve been faithful through it all Jesus has a sweet surprise for you coming.
You learned He is the anchor that holds. The captain of your ship. Your shade at your right hand. Your refuge in times of trouble and the ONE who now calls you friend.
You’ve found your value and worth in Him alone and learned with Him all things are possible for those who believe.
As I write this today I hear a scripture repeated over and over in my heart. It is the scripture He intends to fulfill in His perfect timing.
I pray it will bring you comfort for all the years of grief. (Job 42:11)
It is this simple word:
Psalm 68:6
…God places the lonely in families…
