There’s an injury to your heart
The Lord sees with His eyes
Others may miss its need
But never shall the Christ.
He sees deeply within
When we’re broken or torn to shreds
And bruised is your dear heart
Locked inside your chest.
You’re hoping no one will see
The battle wound up close
You’re thankful that it hides
Perhaps no one will know.
Yet bruising causes an ache
That pounds within a soul
So you must give it an ear
So healing now can flow.
There’s a wincing when memories rise
And your heart is sore to touch
If you could see inside
It’s black and blue, yet not crushed.
It still needs time to heal
And Christ does have a balm
He tends and mends each heart
Bruised by storms and wrongs.
