It’s the “Even if” saints who will endure to the end.
Tis easy to go when all is well but will you go when all is Hell?
Tis easy to go when strength prevails but will you go when weakness swells?
Tis easy to profess a life of faith
When glory comes and wealth is raised.
But will you go when in despair
When gone are your financial affairs?
Tis easy to go in times of fruit
But will you go when God does prune?
Tis easy to testify of His love
When bells do ring and songs are sung.
But when the devil comes too close
Will you still sing of the Holy Ghost?
Tis easy, my friend, to wear a cross
But what then happens when all is lost?
Will you be found faithful still
To The Christ and His dear will?
For death is working in you and me
The more we die, the more He’s seen.
Tis easy, friend, if fame does rise
But what if caves do fill your lives?
Tis easy, indeed, when friends abound
But what if God says “Leave the crowds?”
Tis so easy?
I think it’s not.
But necessary indeed to the call of God.
