Some of you have been discarded by people. Those you trusted have left you feeling unwanted and not valued.
The wrestling’s of your heart scream, “How could they/he/she do this to me?”
God hears. God sees.
I’ve tried to reason these types of things many times. It can be difficult to lay to rest why one human being would cast aside another and suddenly deem them insignificant.
Yet, the enemy is very good at dividing relationships and loyalties and, unfortunately, many simply let him do so.
People are quickly like the cup-bearer that Joseph helped while in prison. (Genesis 40)
Joseph interprets for him a good news dream. Joseph kindly asks him to remember him when he is restored to his position and to put in a word for him. (Paraphrasing)
But he did not. He forgot Joseph.
He got what he needed and didn’t think twice about Joseph. Unfortunately, people are a lot like that still.
We live in a world that has quickly buried things like “honor.” “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” seems lost to even our church going world today.
We live in a world where it seems much of life is too easily discarded. The unborn, the elderly, the sick, the widowed, the lost. Friendships. Families. Children.
Our society is sick. Yet, the scriptures tell us that in the last days people will be lovers of themselves.
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy…(2 Timothy 3:2)
We are seeing this take place now.
All I can tell you is that you must become the change agent. Be that one who never forgets those that gave you a hand up or walked with you through hard seasons.
The hard learned lesson is one that should cause you to be the first on deck when someone is in crisis.
You’ll realize quickly that words mean little while actions mean much.
I’ve often felt God allows a season of trial for me so that I can repair a breach in some wall that perhaps is being overlooked.
But I’ll also tell you this: it still hurts. Even when God uses it for good.
Somebody needs you in their life and would love to have you. Someone will cherish the love you offer.
But you’ll have to leave behind those fair-weather relationships that found you too easy to let go of.
Pray for them.
One day they might realize Jesus blessed them with your heart and they might find themselves wishing they had loved you better.
Oh, and, this…Jesus will never discard you, or forget you.
So stick with Him at all times…
