This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 5-7)
There is a great responsibility that we have with others’ hearts. It is a serious matter to Christ and one we should walk out carefully.
I am reminded of something I learned from Corrie Ten Boom. She was adamant that those around her should “walk in the light” as literally as the scriptures had stated.
Should there be the slightest edge of jealousy or offense it was spoken of together so it might be exposed to the light of Christ. This kept the enemy from having any secret foothold in relationships.
We can speak of unity all day long but if in secret we hold a grudge, then there is only a mirage of unity. The good little Christian soldier falls short when the heart burns with anger while praying for unity.
If trust has been broken in any way at all there is a weight of responsibility upon the offender to come clean.
Admission of guilt before Christ, and the wounded party, is biblically necessary.
Any “workarounds” will never do. You must fall on your sword completely for true restoration to occur.
Flattering words or a kiss on the cheek only adds to the great divide when any behind the scenes breaches of trust have occurred.
Just like our relationship with Christ Jesus, repentance is a necessary step in repair and restoration.
The heart left in pain listens no longer to empty words. It waits for the honest acknowledgment of caused pain and Godly sorrow for the wrongdoing.
“Confess your sins one to another that you may be healed.”
James lets us know that hidden sin can cause illness and certain other behaviors that are less than Christ-likeness. Covered up sin in the least can hinder our forward movement in destiny with Christ.
Have you breached someone’s trust? More so than not the breach has reached the ears of the hurting heart and is not really hidden at all.
It is best to own it fully and set right before God, and man, all things.
