I’ve spent a fair amount of time over my years injuring my shoulders while barreling into closed doors.
I would push, push, and then push some more.
At some point I had to realize, this isn’t the door for me.
When God opens a door, you’ll know it.
Sometimes I was certain it was the way in which I should go so I would be faithful to move to it, fight for it, and declare it to open.
But it didn’t.
I would repackage it and try again.
I would end up frustrated and exhausted from wrestling that “God-door.”
Eventually the Lord would redirect me to a door where my provision came easy, the needs were visible, and hearts were walked right to me whom I needed.
I didn’t even have to wrestle it out.
But sometimes I did overlook it for a little bit.
My heart would stay set on the closed door and I would end up super confused.
I learned to pay attention to the “bread trail” God was using to show me the way.
What was He providing for?
Was He sending help?
Was the door opening without me striving?
Once I followed the bread crumbs I was able to see what He was actually doing and why that closed door was staying shut.
Once I got back in line with His heart and vision, door after door began to open as if a gust of Heavens wind alone blew through it.
If you’re facing closed doors, don’t always assume it’s the enemy when that door doesn’t open.
It might be the Lord realigning you with His heart desire rather than your own.
“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens. (Revelation 3:7)
