I’ve found that a mercy heart can be an easy target for the enemy just as much as it can be used by God.
When God nudges you to make a clean break in an area, your mercy heart will start whispering options.
The enemy counts on the mercy heart to “do what’s expected.” So when you do what’s expected instead of what the Lord said….you’ve had an unhealthy loyalty shift.
Someone or something else received your loyalty….rather than Christ.
Christ has a plan that is best and He foresees the web spun to catch you.
He has warned you in advance but you shrug off the warning. You want to believe it will be different. But you come to find out it’s exactly what He warned you of. In that moment you wished you had listened.
You see, the enemy knows exactly what needs to happen to keep you bound in an area God is trying to set you free from. So he meticulously plans out the perfect ambush. Satan is very strategic.
It will likely be a situation you feel you can’t say no to. Your mind will start to reel as it negotiates an easy way out. Your heart begins to bargain.
“I can handle this.” “Just suck it up and take the high road.” “They doesn’t mean to be cruel.” “Love like Jesus.” “Turn the other cheek.” “It will be different this time.”
But Jesus said otherwise didn’t He? He knew there was a spirit at work to keep you from moving forward into your God assignment.
And listen. The enemy is quite good at twisting scripture to give you what seems like “godly” nudges. All of which will still be deception.
So often we stay too long. We enable deception to reign. We would really prefer a most elegant departure. And the love we have for people finds itself exalted higher than Jesus. Our loyalty has subtly shifted to something that is not His will for us.
The problem with us is we continue to see the natural rather than the spiritual. So we dismiss the warnings.
When the warrior of Christ must err on the side of Christ and resist that which He is opposing.
As the good good Father, He is protecting your heart by exposing that there is a supernatural work of darkness at play and you are being setup.
There comes a day when you’ve had enough because Christ allows a most painful moment so you will never go back again.
From that moment on, your loyalty lies only with Christ Jesus.
