Sometimes we let a thing slip through our hands.
Jesus was trying to bless us but we couldn’t see it. We had our minds on something entirely not of God.
That person was sent to strengthen us.
That assignment was sent to not just bless others but to bless us also.
Why did we let it, let them, go?
We tend to be a people who think it’s always greener on the other side.
The enemy is real good at this one. Not all things that glitter are gold.
Human wisdom verses divine wisdom.
It can be tricky when emotions are involved and the will of man is super strong. Especially if we’re leaning on our own understanding.
Now we are seeing the fallacy with repercussions that we didn’t think through.
It’s gonna hurt a little friends.
Do what you can to make the U-turn.
People are significant.
God appoints them. He also fiercely guards them from harm.
He knows how to use them in Kingdom ways because He formed them. His gifts in them are clear to Him and He knows how to break yokes with what He has placed in them.
If we’re not careful we will overlook the gifts from God and even lose them when not appreciating them or honoring them well.
David honored Jonathan and Jonathan honored David.
It would have been easy for Jonathan to follow the footsteps of his dad. He could have cowered to the kingship role and authority of his famous father. He could have fallen prey to his influence.
But he didn’t. He chose wisely and he loved well.
He knew David well and their souls were knit. He knew his dad was wrong. Lacking integrity. Full of envy and a murderous spirit.
So Jonathan not only remained true to David, but he remained true to God.
He risked his own life for the truth and loyalty of it. For his cherished friendship. For the love of a brother.
We need more Jonathan’s, today.
