Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
At this moment I desire to be sitting eye to eye so you could see the sting of tears in my eyes up close. I want to share a moment of faith that was required of me. Maybe it would encourage your own walk with Christ.
Our new ministry building was prayed in for several years, although I was looking in the wrong city at the time. Eventually, the Lord gave me, as well as my team members, dreams about my home town. So, we followed His lead and began looking there.
There was only one building I had not looked into but we could not find who owned it. Some precious friend’s mom miraculously found the name and cell phone number of the owner so we called him. He met us at the building and I immediately saw a huge window going into a room that looked like what I would envision a radio station to look like. The building was in major need of repair. It had to be completely renovated. So we all went home to pray.
I wasn’t in a hurry, to be honest. I had an experience several years ago in another building. Those memories stirred up many tears and much heartache. It was a deep valley season for me personally.
I got in my little closet and wept through my prayers. It wasn’t very pretty but I’ve found that Christ loves full honesty. Pretense gets us nowhere with Him. As I was praying my phone in the other room sounded. Someone was texting me. I ignored it because I needed to hear from the Lord. That’s a pretty funny statement now.
When I finished praying I checked my phone and it was the potential landlord asking me to call him. When I did he said he couldn’t get us off his mind ever since we toured his building. He wanted to offer us what ended up being a major blessing that assured me the Lord’s hand was in this particular building. He might as well have taken His finger and pointed to it. I was very forthcoming with him about how we operate in faith rather than 5-year plans or budgets. I promised him I, with the help of Jesus, would pay every bill. He said he had no worries. So we made plans to make it our ministry home.
For 4 months God sent us help through a local ministry, New Creation Foundation, who carefully and lovingly took us under their wings and renovated the building.
They, too, were familiar with the faith walk so we all agreed to go in faith-together. My first bill would be to cover all the materials before we could get started. The guys brought me a material list and what it would cost.
We had no funds for a new building. NONE. But we knew the Lord had given us the building and we were to keep moving.
We all went home to pray.
The next day every dime we needed to get started on the first round of materials was sent through various donations. Just like that.
Every step of this season has been exactly this way.
I have marveled as Christ has taken such care of us like those sparrows He lovingly refers to in His Word. I likely have at least one story for every week of miraculous provision. He has been in the smallest of details.
I share this with you because some of you have been told that God always provides ahead of time. That’s simply not always true. I’ve learned He sends what we need right when we need it. He’s never early but He’s also never late.
Whatever it is that He tells you to go do, obey Him. It will be a beautiful (HARD) adventure! We have had many joy-filled days watching Him work in our midst. I would not have wanted to miss this grand adventure.
He will meet your every need according to His riches in glory.
