I’m not the one to call for a hospitality event or a delicious meal for the next gathering. I have an Aunt that is the BOMB in this arena, as well as my Mom, but they know if I’m in the room it’s not how God wired me. So, expectations are low…and I’m good with that.
Now let me minister to a heart in need, sing over a sad soul, or share a now word with hungry people who wanna hear about Jesus and I’ll be THERE.
The ladies in our groups get to enjoy both gifts. I get to focus on their spiritual needs, and they have adopted my Aunt because she’s used her gift to bless them every single week for 2 years now. They get the best of both worlds. Without my Aunt, it just wouldn’t happen…ever.
Both gifts are necessary. Both are needed and even critical for the whole body to work together and meet the needs of each heart. We all have unique love languages, and Jesus knows it full well.
But I’m here, today, for the ladies who’ve felt out of place at the potlucks.
Just the mention of the word sends me into mental torment, and you’ll likely not see me there.
My anxiety shoots out the roof if I am expected to bake for you or host a scrumptious and well-thought-out party of any kind.
Now…
Put me in my element and I can live and breathe. Give me a support group needing love and tender care, and I’ll delight in binding up their wounds. But if you ask me to fill a spot in the kitchen, I promise you Imma run….
Listen, Church, make some room for the woman proclaimers and tenders of the broken hearts. Not every woman is designed for your hospitality teams. Jesus dispersed many varying gifts to all of humanity. Let’s use them all. Many women today are on the pews wondering why they exist because there’s been no space for them to do what they were made for.
If we want the churches to thrive again, then let’s get people in the right spots (both men and women) according to the gifts Jesus has given them. Everyone needs to be mobilized. It is what Christ desires and it is absolutely what the world, and the Church, needs.
And please for the love of all that is good…do not call me for a casserole:)))))))
