I think I’ll choose to stay small
When everyone seems to like tall
I’m settled with being unseen
For Christ has a good view of me.
I watch a world of prestige
Climbing the ladders of esteem
Wanting to be beauty queens
But Christ is very fond of smaller things.
I believe that Christ in His time
Exalts the hearts who’ve aligned
With faith and love who are kind
Tender and compassionate of mind.
Such time is spent, money too
On networking and people pleasing news
Jockeying for places in the race
I think it gives Christ a bitter taste.
I’m grateful for a God who sees
The small one just out tending sheep
Hidden from all eyes who see
Yet in time Christ calls forward His destiny.
