Throw a Rope
Oh if we could see the imprisoned hearts around us… there are days where weariness withholds my own vision. It’s not that Christ isn’t trying to show them to me…it’s merely that I refuse to see. I may be overwhelmed with a list of obligations…yet miss His altogether. For nothing is more important than the hearts of men. His proclamation of anointed obligations in Isaiah 61 is a constant reminder to my own heart. If He was called to it….then we must also be. For He now lives in us. If I find myself so busy that I can no longer love on those in need…then Satan has gotten me bound to his own work…and I, even this week, confessed a string of distractions. Distractions will cause a love-less heart…and fruit will begin to grow distant. Our compassion for others will lessen quickly and urgency to tend the broken will become almost non-existent. This is so not a place I desire to be….and in those moments as I sit before Him and He begins to whisper ever so gently…simplify…I put my list before Him…and allow Him the honor of erasing all that He desires… Then I will be ready to “throw a rope” to any fellow brothers and sisters deserted, shipwrecked, or wounded from the war.
Will someone throw a rope
For I am sore in need
Will you just walk on by
Or listen to my pleas.
The prison is so deep
I cannot find a gate
My destiny is tied
To one who lends escape.
I’ve waited many years
And heard the passers by
Many speak of Christ
But turn a blinded eye.
Time is taken much
And soon you say you’ll come
Yet many years are passed
And me with iron rungs.
I don’t need very much
Just love that gives a thrust
Who ties a rope up tight
And bends to give a tug.
Please lower down thy lamp
You’ll see my sorrowed eyes
Unless you are but busy
And continue passing by.

Matthew 25:44-45
Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’
