There was a man with a withered hand
To which dear Jesus drew nigh.
And in the religious synagogue
Were the pharisees and the scribes.
They watched to see His every move
To see if He would heal
Upon the day of Sabbath rest
For the law had its own zeal.
Yet Jesus knew their hearts were dry
And withered they were more
For anger rose up in His soul
From yokes of law that scorned.
Mercy it is His heart’s dear cry
Opposing the temple glares
For they could never see their shame
The hardness of heart that stared.
But Christ did come against their views
“Step forward” He tells the man
And if we shall be free from yokes
The Church must “step forward” again.
“Stretch out your hand” O Saints of God
For Christ does come to heal
Yet what we need is healed hard hearts
From law that comes to kill.
There is among us in the land
Teachings of barren wombs
Courting you back to slavery
Where death will capture you.
Tell me Paul says “you who desire
To be under the law,
Do you not hear it’s voice declare
A bondwoman to you all?
The man above with withered hand
He mirrors the Church of God
Dry and barren lacking life
From living still the law.
Yet if we shall stretch out our hands
To the fullness of The Cross
We will see a healing come
Restoring the withered and lost.

Galatians 4 (particularly 31)
So then, brethren, we are not children of the bond woman but of the free.
Mark 3: 1-6
And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.
So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.”
Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent. And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.
