For some days, I noticed the constant references to ‘stones” in the scriptures. In the back of my mind was a gentle whisper, yet, I did not know what to do with it, However, my daily reading built a log of the mentioned stones. I am sure there are more, but below is what He gave me as I pondered and asked many questions. His Word is so alive and He desires us to hear His heart. Sometimes, He simply draws us to something such as stones that we might connect the dots. Taking a journey in His Word is nothing short of adventurous.
The Stones
There was a stone that served as a pillow
For the Christ to lay His head
And stones of glorious gemstones
In an ephod of Israel’s stead.
There were stones that slain a giant
Hurled by a zealous youth
And stones which held commandments
Written by Moses true.
There were stones of remembrance
Building a mound of unfailing grace
And stones prepared as weapons
“To stone” the pagan worshiping ways.
There were stones that were dropped unused
When a woman was brought to Christ
And don’t forget the great millstone
That halted Abimelech’s fright.
There were pitchers of stone filled with blood
When Aaron stretched out his rod
And stones prepared to cry out loud
If ceased the disciples cause.
There were stones erected
condemned by God
If any man should bow
And a “Stone” by meaning which Christ declared
For Simon Peter proud.
There was a stone…a chief cornerstone
Rejected by builders of men
He was the stone, a living stone
A chosen Shepherd that tends.
And lastly a stone did seal the Christ
Into a cave of His grave
But on the third day, death lost its sting
And the stone was rolled away.
